The Haitian government continues to strengthen its arsenal in order to fight against the Covid-19. Two shipments of medical and sanitary equipment were delivered to Toussaint Louverture International Airport on May 11 and 13, 2020. These are the 2nd and 3rd batch of equipment received by the Ministry of Public Health and Population.

According to the Ministry of Communication, Monday's cargo consists of 75,500 personal protective equipment, 150,000 N95 masks for medical personnel, 5,000 plastic coats, and 500 full beds.

As for the third cargo, the one that was delivered on Wednesday morning, it contains 123,550 combinations, 1,300,000 surgical masks, 112,240 glasses, and 27,350 overcoats.

All of this equipment was ordered from China for $ 18 million. They must allow the executive to fight the Covid-19 in Haiti. Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, Jovenel Moïse, said last Thursday that his government has ordered other equipment to fight the pandemic. "Following the recommendations of the multi-sectoral commission, we have also ordered 2,500 oxygen cylinders and 9 oxygen generators," he said.

President Moïse had indicated that the government had ordered personal protective equipment that would be manufactured in Haiti. "This order costs the Haitian state 114 million gourdes. This equipment is purchased in Haiti and the company that manufactures it will not make a profit. We have already paid for 50,000 personal protective equipment. We will start with the manufacturing from next week. This equipment is reusable, "said the tenant at the National Palace at the diplomatic lounge at Toussaint Louverture Airport.
