The talk show host, Morning Debate, on Tele Eclair radio, Mr. Luckner Desir, was arrested this Friday, April 3, 2020, at midday. He was arrested by the police on the express request of the government commissioner, Jacques Lafontant.
Mr. Desir had declared on his program that the masks ordered from China would already be contaminated with the coronavirus. He was interrogated for several hours at the police station in Pétion ville by the head of the prosecution.
A crowd of supporters gathered outside the police station held a demonstration to demand the release of Mr. Desir.
Released after 4 o'clock in the afternoon, Mr. Désir was warmly welcomed by the demonstrators.
Mr. Désir was accompanied by his lawyers during the hearing. The head of the prosecution indicated that Mr. Desir has been provisionally released and must remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
