Haiti news - Haiti is facing terrorism says a minister

Interior Minister Pierre Josue Agenor Cadet says Haiti is sliding towards terrorism, taking into account the extent of violence recorded in recent days. He lamented the fire, of a bus of public transport by an armed group this Thursday, November 7, 2019. Several passengers were wounded during the explosion of the molotov cocktail.

Mr. Cadet assures that the government has adopted provisions to restore order in the neighborhoods of Delmas 2, 4 and 6 involved in conflicts between armed groups. He suggested that people are busy distributing weapons in populous neighborhoods.

The Interior Minister has refrained from revealing the name of a former official who had recently distributed arms to Delmas 2. Cadet says government services are gathering evidence that could allow the arrest of these criminals.

Moreover, it reveals that the police have seized in recent days a shipment of weapons and a cargo of ammunition from the Dominican Republic. The information services provided the avenues for intervention in the border area.

Mr. Cadet also denies that the Ministry of the Interior is involved in the distribution of weapons in populous neighborhoods.
