Haiti Gold Cup 2017 News: The Grenadiers finally know their opponent for a two-legged playoff

Ranked 5th in the last Copa Centro americana (UNCAF) which ended Sunday with the coronation of Honduras, it is Nicaragua that will be the opponent of Haiti in a two-legged playoff of the Gold Cup 2017, whose final round will be played in the United States from 7 to 26 July.

The Haitian national team (69th FIFA) has just won 5th place in the Caribbean after two victories against Suriname (4-2) and Trinidad & Tobago (4-3) at the beginning of the year, should face in principle in March (round) the Nicaraguan team (111st FIFA) defeated (1-0) in the last match of the competition of the UNCAF, by El Salvador. The Confederation of Football of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) will shortly confirm the dates of these two encounters. The return match will be played in Port-au-Prince.

Honduras champion of the Copa Centro americana, also winning in 1993, 1995 and 2011, followed by Panama, Costa Rica 3rd and El Salvador 4th, are directly qualified for the Gold Cup.

In the Caribbean, the four countries that are in the final stage of the Gold Cup 2017, namely Jamaica, Curaçao, Guadeloupe and French Guiana are also qualified and Haiti will play its ticket against Nicaragua.

So far we know 11 countries of the Gold Cup 2017, the twelfth will be either Haiti or Nicaragua.
