COUVA, Trinidad, TT (sentinel.ht) – The Haitian National Team defeated Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday [4-3] setting them up for a match-up against the 5th-placed team of the Centroamericana tournament. The winner of that match will be the 12th and final team to compete in the 2017 Gold Cup.
T&T’s Soca Warriors came into Sunday’s game with a chance to advance, although a slim one. They would have had to defeat the Grenadiers by a spread of two but fell behind four goals from Etienne (20′), Belfort (39′) and
Jean-Baptiste (111′ and 117′).
Haiti will wait and see how the Centroamericana tournament, which kicks of January 13, develops to see who they will face for their final Gold Cup qualifier match. Standings before play puts Nicaragua in fifth place.
