The first woman to break the color barrier was Haiti's black entrant Evelyn Miot upon gaining the right to compete for the semis during the 1962 Miss Universe Pageant on Floridian soil, what had seemed highly improbable days ago at a time when the black women were not allowed to participate in the beauty pageants.This amazing girl also was the first Haitian woman to enter the top 15 she paved the way for generations of black beauties.
