Haiti News Cycling: 23 Haitian riders prepare for the Cycling Championship of the Caribbean Nations

Edwing Charles, the Minister of Youth and Sports informed himseld of the preparation of our National Cycling Selection by visiting this week the 23 preselected riders, currently in concentration at the Sport Center for Hope under the supervision of coach Yan Dejan sent by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) for the Cycling Championship of the Caribbean Nations to be held in Haiti from October 25 to 27, 2019.

During his visit, Minister Charle declared "23 athletes benefit from a high-level training provided by the UCI with very cost-effective equipment," expressing delight that "12 bicycles each costing 20,000 US dollars will be available to our athletes for this Caribbean Nations Cycling Championship.

In this perspective, our 23 riders whose performances impress the coach of the UCI, will be able to improve their preparations during 2 months of training in : Santo Domingo, Martinique, Guadeloupe, France, before returning to Haiti to train the national team which will be composed of 12 runners

This championship will take place from October 25 to 27, 2019, on a course of 120 km, on two departments (West and Artibonite). From the Côte des Arcadins to Champs-De-Mars. The cyclists will cross the towns of St Marc, Arcahaie, Cabaret, Croix-Des-Bouquets, Cité Soleil, Delmas and Port-au-Prince.

Some 200 cyclists and their technical teams from 27 countries of the Caribbean and the world are expected in Haiti. For more than 3 hours the event will be broadcast live on national and international television.
