Bintou Keita at the National Palace
In her 2nd day in Haiti, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Ms. Bintou Keita met with President Jovenel Moïse at the National Palace. During the meeting, Ms. Keita discussed the exit strategy for the UN Mission for Justice Support in Haiti, MINUJUSTH, by 2020. As envisaged by the UN Security Council, the strategy is framed within a transition from peacekeeping to the full accomplishment of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs. The Assistant Secretary-General also discussed the strengthening of the rule of law in the country, meeting with partners from the Security and Justice sectors, including the Dean of Port-au-Prince Court of First Instance, the Director of the Prison System Administration, and the Director General of the National Police of Haiti.
