WASHINGTON, D.C. (sentinel.ht) – Secret U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) documents made public early last week show that the U.S. government agency had considered an idea to use biological chemicals to ruin Cuba’s agriculture, in hopes of causing a famine in the country that would lead to an uprising against Fidel Castro.
The information is part of a dump of CIA records that U.S. President Donald Trump promised, during his presidential campaign, to make public in order to let the truth be known of the circumstances of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Only a small fraction of the records were actually released thus far, but among them, are these finding involving Cuba and Castro.
Other records show that the CIA even plotted to murder boatloads of refugees fleeing Cuba, assassinate exile leaders and set off bombs in Miami, in order to put blame on Fidel Castro and give reason for an invasion of the country. An overview of this plot is reported in an article by the Miami News Times.
The details of these actions considered by the CIA are in the summary of a document about Operation Mongoose. It was an operation hatched by CIA under President Dwight D. Eisenhower with the aim of toppling the Castro regime.
