The First Lady of the Republic, Martine Moïse, left the country to Abidjan in Ivory Coast to participate from Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 November 2017 in the "World Rally of the Sun Movement" which will take place this year around the theme : "Investing in nutrition for a sustainable future".
This theme is in line with the Government's vision and the struggle initiated by the First Lady who intends to work not only for the balance of families but also for the welfare of children, especially those from the most vulnerable stratas of the country.
In her speech next Thursday, Martine Moïse will insist on the need to strengthen women's knowledge on the issue of nutrition in a country like Haiti where many families are single parents and have a woman at their head. She should also outline the Haitian State's vision of identifying all children, including newborns, as a way of enabling the Government to develop broader social policies that take into account all children in the country.
Other points that Martine Moïse should address include the issue of empowering women to develop the country socially and economically; the steps taken by several ministries to combat malnutrition; and finally gender equity for greater women's participation in building more just and prosperous communities.
