At a press conference held on Friday afternoon at the Iberostar Hotel in Lilliput, St James the American R&B singer expressed his delight on his visit to the island.
Derulo, whose parents spent the greater part of 10 years living in Jamaica, said, "I always felt a part of Jamaica," even as he acknowledged his Haitian heritage.
The singer commented on the impact reggae music has. "Going around the world, seeing how reggae music affects the world, a party is not a party withot reggae music," he said.
With a career that saw him going solo on most of his projects, his last album Talk Dirty had him collaborating with artistes such as Two Chainz (Talk Dirty), Wiggle (featuring Snoop Dogg) and Vertigo with Jordin Sparks, among others.

Whether or not his next album will follow the same trend is left to be seen as the singer is said to be coming from a 45-state tour and heading to Los Angeles to shoot a music video following his Sumfest performance.
Twenty-five-year-old Derulo was born in Miami and started performing at age five and wrote his first song, Crush On You, when he was eight.
