Jacki-O

Angela Kohn (born November 24, 1975), better known as Jacki-O, is an HaitianDesent/American rapper from Miami, Florida, who is currently signed to her own label Jack Movement Entertainment. She got her first break in 2003 with the bawdy sex rap "Nookie" which garnered the MC comparisons to fellow Southern rapper Trina. Although it was the first time that many had heard of Jacki-O, she kept a high profile, prior to her radio and club successes, with several appearances on Miami-area mixtapes. The success of "Nookie" led Jacki-O to discuss a similar subject matter on her second single, "Sugar Walls," released in 2004 in anticipation of her debut album, Poe Little Rich Girl.^[1] Jackie-O has also worked with WWE & Jim Johnston in producing vocals for some of their theme songs, including Michelle McCool, Candice Michelle & Stephanie McMahon.

Music career

In 2002, Jacki teamed up with Poe Boy Entertainment to obtain a recording contract;^[2] in the process, she released helped established Poe Boy first mixtape, entitled The Official Bootlegg. It went on to sell over 70,000 copies and was downloaded over 200,000 times. Subsequently, she released her first music video, "Nookie", which became her biggest hit to date.^[1]

In 2004, Jacki-O was signed to TVT Records, whereupon she released another music video, "Fine", (featuring the Ying Yang Twins), as well as two more singles, "Slow Down" and "Sugar Walls".^[2] Her debut album, Poe Little Rich Girl,^[1] was released October 26, 2004,^[2] selling 20,345 in its first week.^[3]

Her next mixtape, released two years later in 2008, was entitled Jack-Da Rippa and featured the singles "I Got Yo Man", "3rd Eye", "Cool It Now" and "Queen Of The South".^[2]This led to a recording contract with her own label imprint Jackmove Ent. the next year, where she released Lil Red Riding Hood, featuring her newest single, "Baby Mama", as the lead-off track.^[2] Following this, she released a mixtape entitled BBBP (Bad Bitches Bang Pink).^[2]

In March 2010, Jacki-O announced that she is gearing up for the release of a new street album/mixtape, titled Griselda Blanco, which she plans to release digitally. The first single released from the mixtape was entitled, 'Bang Bang,' and was a rumoured verbal attack on fellow female rapper Lil' Kim.

Foxy Brown[edit]

On April 23, 2005, an altercation occurred between Jacki-O and Foxy Brown at Circle House Studios in Miami, Florida.^[7] Jacki-O stated her refusal to "bow down" to Brown, was the prime motive in the physical altercation. A day following the incident, she stated to MTV News: "I just know that yesterday I did not go there to get in no altercation. I went to work, and I did not know I would be winning an ass-kicking contest. You don't come to somebody's session acting like a clown. Something is seriously wrong with her. She's washed up. She needs to sit back and relax and retire. It ain't happening for her no more."^[8]

O and Brooklyn native rapper, Gravy, were reportedly in Circle House Studios recording a track titled "Ménage," when in the midst, Brown and her business partner Fendi walked in and tried to negotiate to be a feature on the song.^[8] Brown, who was supposedly upset by the lack of welcoming in the studio, allegedly stated: "You don't know who the fuck I am? You need to bow down. That's what's wrong with y'all new rapper hoes."^[8] Following a lack of resolution, O claimed she had overheard Brown in the recording booth talking about her; allegedly ranting: "This bitch don't know, I'm about to slap the shit out of her."^[8] Days later, Foxy Brown was interviewed to give her take on the incident and denied all of Jacki-O's claims.^[9] In response, Jacki-O released a diss track titled, "Tko."
